Simple Spanish Review Videos

April 9, 2008

For the last six months, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the SpanishPod crew — JP, Liliana, Leo, and Esti — and have learned a little bit of Spanish along the way. It’s been a good experience because I’ve been able to follow the communicative approach that we espouse from the beginning (by the time I started listening to ChinesePod, I was already at least an intermediate Chinese speaker), and have seen how it works to build language skills.

A problem that I’ve had, though, is that I’m a very visual learner, and podcasts are by definition an auditory medium. Though I have access to all of the written material that goes along with the lessons, I wanted something a little bit different. Thankfully, since much of the content produced by the Praxis Language podcasts is Creative Commons licensed, I was able to scratch my own itch and create these little video reviews.

They’re simple and only take about five minutes to make in iMovie. I’ll be creating and uploading them periodically as I study new lessons. I’m convinced that multimedia is the future of learning, and these are a tiny step in that direction.
